The general secretary of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, Bishnu Paudel, has claimed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will resign neither as the chairman of the party nor the premiership.

In an interview with Onlinekhabar just a few hours before the party’s key secretariat meeting would begin in Kathmandu on Saturday afternoon, Oli’s confidant says his resignation from either of the position could lead the country towards instability and a political crisis.

“The demand for his resignation is untimely, against people’s interests and the need of the nation, and inappropriate from the perspective of the future of the communist movement,” he said, “I think the friends putting forth this demand will return to consensus.”

He, however, accepted that there had been some major misunderstandings between Oli and the party’s executive chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

“But now, they have to return to the practice of making any decision based on a mutual understanding,” he said, “There is not any other option.”
