Rastriya Janata Party Nepal’s presidium member, Rajendra Mahato, has said that constitution amendment still remains the main agenda of his party.

Talking to media in Nepalgunj one day before the country celebrates the third Constitution Day, leader Mahato said that the constitution failed to ensure the rights of Madheshis, Dalits and indigenous communities as it was incomplete.

Leader Mahato further said that they were not going to observe the Constitution Day as a festival since the constitution was not timely revised.

Recalling that they launched an agitation for six months, demanding constitution amendment, he said they supported the incumbent government from outside as constitution amendment was the main agenda of the party rather than joining the government.

He maintained, “Supporting the incumbent government is not a crime. We supported it to make the two-thirds majority government stronger.”

He informed although the RJPN held discussion with the ruling party leaders time and again over the issue of constitution amendment, no trustworthy environment was created for the same.
