Kathmandu, October 4

National Human Rights Commission has appealed Dr Govinda KC, who started a fresh round of hunger strike a week ago to press for reforms in Nepal’s public health sector, and the government to find a way out through what it called meaningful talks.

NHRC pointed that he is suffering from respiratory complications and joint pain, adding that his health is deteriorating.

The commission urged the concerned side to show sensitivity and save Dr KC’s life. It called both the government and Dr KC to work out a solution through talks.

Further, it urged the government to pay attention towards the health of civil society leader Chaitanya Prakash Mainali and his demands. Mainali has been staging a fast-unto-death to press for the fulfillment of his six demands, including permission for the operation of Birtamod-based B&C Hospital in the form of a medical college.
