Nepal Police panel probing death threat to lawmaker Niru Devi Pal

Nepal Police on Friday says it has launched an investigation into a case in which Nepal Communist Party lawmaker Niru Devi Pal reportedly received a death threat from an unidentified man on Tuesday evening.

The Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu on Friday announced a three-member team to investigate into the case. The Range’s SP Ram Datta Joshi heads the committee whereas other members are DSP Govinda Raj Kafle and Inspector Surendra KC for the Metropolitan Police Circle, Baneshwor.

Chief of the Range, SSP Bishwa Raj Pokharel says the panel has been assigned to investigate into the case minutely and submit a report at the earliest.

Meanwhile, police have so far interrogated at least 75 persons in connection with the case. Of them, 16 have been screened for further investigation, according to the Range.
