Kathmandu, January 10

Nepal Oil Corporation says it is at the last stage of preparations to install a locking system in fuel tankers operating in the country.

The Corporation’s spokesperson Birendra Goit says the new system will address losses caused due to oil leakage during transportation.

Speaking at a function organised on the occasion of the Corporation’s 48th anniversary in Kathmandu today, he informed that the new system would be introduced within next one month.

Tests have repeatedly found that 99 litres of petrol and 48 litres of diesel get lost from each 4,000 litres during transportation.

In another context, Goit says the Corporation is introducing new standards to regulate fuel stations in the country.

At the function, the Corporation’s Acting Executive Director Sushil Bhattarai said the Corporation is planning to establish petroleum storage facilities in each province so as to suffice the demand for at least 90 days. He says lands are being purchased and experts are being consulted for that.
