Nepal officially begins procedure to import Covid-19 vaccines from India

Kathmandu, December 30

The government has officially launched its efforts to import Covid-19 vaccines from India.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently wrote to the Indian government, requesting for the supply of the vaccines that would suffice the need for the 20 per cent of the population, according to Nepali Ambassador to India, Nilamber Acharya.

In the first phase, the government prepares to use the vaccines for frontline health workers, security personnel and senior citizens.

It has been learned that the government has already managed funds for the import of the vaccines.

Meanwhile, the government is also preparing to start similar initiatives for the import of vaccines from other countries.
