Home Minister Janardan Sharma at the Directorate General of Army Aviation, on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

Kathmandu, August 15

Home Minister Janardan Sharma has been coordinating with stakeholders including government offices in districts hit by recent floods and landslides to ensure effective distribution of relief materials.

He is at the Directorate General of Army Aviation at Tribhuvan International Airport mobilising aeroplanes and helicopters for supply of relief goods since Tuesday morning.

The Minister decided to work from the Airport itself after the Ministry received complaints about ineffective relief distribution, his secretariat says.

The Minister’s personal secretary Gopal Sharma says Minister Sharma directed officials of Nepali Army as well as private helicopter companies to ensure smooth supply this morning whereas he is supervising works being carried out in districts via telephone.

Currently, total 13 helicopters have been deployed in the operation including seven of Army and six of private operators. Total 26,000 personnel have been mobilised.
