Kathmandu, August 16
Nepal is eager to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping to the country, Prime Minsiter Sher Bahadur Deuba has told visiting Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Yang on Wednesday.
During a meeting held in Kathmandu today, Deuba said he wanted to see Xi in Kathmandu as soon as possible.
In response, the Chinese minister said Xi would visit Nepal at a convenient date to be fixed through diplomatic correspondence between the two neighbours.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual concerns were discussed including establishing a railway from Shigatse of Tibet to Lumbini via Kathmandu and Pokhara and reconstruction of earthquake-hit Araniko Highway, informs PM’s press coordinator Govinda Pariyar.
Deuba also requested Wang to promote Chinese investment in Nepal, according to PM’s Secretariat.
