Nepal Covid-19 tally: 189 new cases, 250 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 921,536 as of Saturday afternoon.

The ministry said 189 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 5,483 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 158 returned positive. Likewise, 2,514 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 31 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.88 per cent of the PCR and 1.23 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.36 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,428 active cases across the country. Of them, 266 are hospitalised, 106 in intensive care units and 24 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 250 people have achieved recovery whereas two deaths were reported.

Of the total cases so far, 808,603 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,572 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.9 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 111,938 people were vaccinated today.
