Kathmandu, January 20

The Ministry of Health and Population informs on Thursday afternoon that 12,338 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded across the country in the past 24 hours.

With this, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 995,888.

In this period, 21,007 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 10,052 returned positive. Likewise, 6,490 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 2,286 tested positive.

Of total tests, 47.85 per cent of the PCR and 35.22 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 44.87 per cent.

As of today, there are 57,328 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,492 are hospitalised, 186 in intensive care units and 27 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 649 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were four deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 818,809 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,632 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 92.2 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.
