Nepal Covid-19 tally: 681 new cases, 120 recoveries, 3 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, August 19

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 28,939 as of Wednesday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 681 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 159 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 11,522 swab samples were tested. So far, 554,388 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far, 17,700 people have achieved recovery whereas 120 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 120 people have been discharged whereas three deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 61.2 per cent.

The other 11,118 cases are active currently. Of them, 7,987 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 3,131 are in home isolation. Likewise, six are on ventilators and 131 in intensive care units.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Manang, Mustang, Humla, and Dolpa do not have any active cases.

Over 13,500 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
