Nepal Covid-19 tally: 6,462 new cases, 1,416 recoveries, 4 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,023,307 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 6,462 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 13,377 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 5,598 returned positive. Likewise, 4,060 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 864 tested positive.

Of total tests, 41.84 per cent of the PCR and 21.28 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 37.05 per cent.

As of today, there are 77,040 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,664 are hospitalised, 215 in intensive care units and 40 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,416 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were four deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 821,699 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,655 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 90.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 49,473 people were vaccinated today.
