Nepal Covid-19 tally: 557 new cases, 877 recoveries, 3 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 903,071 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 557 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 6,061 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 522 returned positive. Likewise, 1,959 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 35 tested positive.

Of total tests, 8.61 per cent of the PCR and 1.78 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 7.30 per cent.

As of today, there are 19,201 active cases across the country. Of them, 778 are hospitalised, 273 in intensive care units and 85 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 877 people have achieved recovery whereas three deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 787,507 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,348 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.3 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 7,576 people were vaccinated today.
