Nepal Covid-19 tally: 545 new cases, 726 recoveries, 8 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 901,293 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 545 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 6,586 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 470 returned positive. Likewise, 1,963 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 75 tested positive.

Of total tests, 7.13 per cent of the PCR and 3.82 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 6.37 per cent.

As of today, there are 11,315 active cases across the country. Of them, 785 are hospitalised, 288 in intensive care units and 98 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 726 people have achieved recovery whereas eight deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 784,881 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,326 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.1 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 26,568 people were vaccinated today.
