Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,559 new cases including 902 in Kathmandu

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 77,817 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry says 1,559 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 902 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 12,205 swab samples were tested. So far, 1 million and 21,503 people have been tested in the country.

As of today, 20,891 cases are active currently. Of them, 10,804 are in home isolation and 10,087 hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 201 are in intensive care units and 20 on ventilators.

Of the total cases so far, 56,428 people have achieved recovery whereas 498 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 1,057 people have been discharged whereas seven deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 72.5 per cent.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Siraha, Sunsari, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, and Rupandehi have more than 500 active cases each. Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, and Mugu do not have any active cases.

Over 5,700 people are quarantined across the country.
