Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,359 new cases, 1,354 recoveries, 14 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 44,236 as of Friday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 1,359 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of the new cases, 454 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 13,638 swab samples were tested. So far, 745,490 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far 25,561 people have achieved recovery whereas 271 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 1,354 people have been discharged whereas 14 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 58 per cent.

The other 18,404 cases are active currently. Of them, 10,942 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 7,462 are in home isolation.

Of those hospitalised, 151 are in intensive care units and 26 are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Sunsari, Dhanusha, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Bara, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Lalitpur, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Solukhumbu, Taplejung, Mustang, Dolpa, Mugu, and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 6,500 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
