Nepal-China Consultation Mechanism meets after four years

Kathmandu, June 20

The 11th meeting of Nepal-China Consultation Mechanism kicked off in the Capital today.

The meeting taking place after a hiatus of four years will review Nepal-China relations and latest political developments in both the countries.

During the meeting, the two sides will discuss Nepal-China economic cooperation, investment, trade and connectivity along with land and air route connectivity.

The two countries will also deliberate on tourism and sociocultural exchanges, collaboration on areas of mutual interest in the backdrop of consolidation of the harmonious relations, and conducting regular meetings of other bilateral mechanisms.

The meeting will also review major regional and international issues of common interest.

China’s 11-member delegation is led by Chinese Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kong Xuan You, whereas the 20-member Nepali delegation is being led by Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi.

Top officials from various ministries, Investment Board Nepal and National Reconstruction Authority are members of the Nepali delegation.

The 10th meeting of Nepal-China Consultation Mechanism was held in Beijing in 2013.
