Kathmandu, October 24

The ruling Nepal Communist Party has postponed its Secretariat meeting scheduled for this afternoon till Thursday.

The party has cited that the meeting was postponed owing to busy schedules of key leaders.

Another source, however, informs that the meeting was put off as it could not get lists of nominees for provincial committees from the lower level. Giving the full shape to party’s provincial committees was a major item of the agenda.

NCP Secretariat meeting continues in bid to settle internal disputes

Kathmandu, October 24

The Secretariat meeting of ruling Nepal Communist Party will continue on Wednesday as well, according to party sources.

The party is holding the meeting of its supreme body, comprising nine top leaders, for past few years, in a bid to conclude the unification between then CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre into the NCP. The meeting, however, has failed to achieve concrete results apparently due to differences between the leaders.

Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha have objected to the selection of chairpersons and secretaries for the party’s provincial committees, and it has blocked the party from completing the unification process.

According to the Secretariat of party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the meeting will take place at 3 pm at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.

The meeting is likely to discuss over one dozen agendas including the unification of lower committees, dissatisfaction expressed by leaders, the performance of government led by another Chairman KP Sharma Oli among other contemporary political affairs.
