Kathmandu, July 24

The National Assembly meeting has been adjourned for Wednesday morning after members of the Upper House got engaged in a heated exchange of words against each other.

As soon as the Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina announced the beginning of meeting, lawmakers of the ruling Nepal Communist Party stood up from their seats demanding that the meeting would follow its agenda smoothly. Earlier, they were informed that the main opposition Nepali Congress was obstructing the House, hence were prepared to give the counter.

Immediately after the ruling side lawmakers stood up, the opposition lawmakers also followed suit.

Chairman Timilsina then asked both sides to sit down; but they did not heed him. Then, he allowed NCP Chief Whp Khim Lal Bhattarai to speak.

Bhattarai demanded that the House follow its agenda smoothly. But, the opposition lawmakers protested his demand and started shouting against him. Congress’ Surendra Pande and Sarita Prasain said the House could not continue its business when the opposition lawmakers were standing up.

While Chairman Timilsina was speaking, the two sides were shouting against each other.

Then, Tiimilsina announced that the meeting would continue on Wednesday morning.
