National Assembly Chair, Canadian Senate Speaker discuss bilateral parliamentary cooperation

Kathmandu, February 10

The Speaker of Canadian Senate, the Upper House, George Furey, on Monday paid a courtesy call on Nepal’s National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina. The National Assembly Secretariat says the two top officials discuss promoting parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

The assembly’s secretary Rajendra Phuyal says this visit is of the highest level of bilateral engagements between parliamentary officials of Nepal and Canada, hoping it would be significant in exchanging learning about parliamentary practices between the two countries.

During the meeting, Timilsina stressed strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries, adding forums of lawmakers established in both countries would work in this regard.

Likewise, Furey also said he had accorded high importance to the visit. Stating that Canada was also a federal country like Nepal, he said it was committed to assisting in Nepal’s development efforts.
