Home Ministry forms team to investigate the death of cows in Surkhet

The Home Ministry has started to investigate the mysterious death of 24 cows in Surkhet. A four-member team has been formed in the leadership of Under-secretary Sagar Mani Pathak. The committee has been given 15 days to investigate the incident and bring the culprits to justice. Twenty-four out of over 200 cows being taken to Dailekh from Nepalgunj were found dead in Surkhet on Friday. Police have arrested the truck drivers who were ferrying the cows.

10 arrested for human trafficking in Nepal

The Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police has rounded up 10 persons, including four Chinese nationals, for allegedly operating a bride trafficking ring under the guise of cross-country marriage. The suspects of transnational trafficking racket have been identified as Zhen Xianjdong, Zhang Donghui, Quan Zhan Peng and Qin Liyang of Hubei Province, China, while their Nepal-based associates have been identified as Rina Tamang Bibirani, Parbati Gurung, Amrita Gurung, Usha Ghimire, Roj Tamang and Bharat Tamang. SSP Ishwar Babu Karki said they were involved in trafficking Nepali girls and women to China as brides. SSP Karki said the alleged members of the trafficking racket had been charged with human trafficking and organised crime. He said the Bureau had launched a thorough investigation into the case.

SAARC meeting to be held in New York; India and Pakistan to attend

India and Pakistan have agreed to participate in the foreign minister-level meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in New York on September 26, which will be chaired by Nepal. Both India and Pakistan have already sent their consent for the meeting to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu.

Minister Bhattarai briefs Deuba about Visit Nepal Year 2020

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai met with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to brief him about the government plan for Visit Nepal Year 2020. Minister Bhattarai went to Deuba’s house on Saturday and told him about his ministry’s plan to make the VNY 2020 a success.

NCP party circular asks leaders not to talk against party in public

The merger process of Nepali Communist Party is in its final stage and the party is starting a nationwide campaign to make people aware of it. The internal party circular states that the party will soon hold a meeting of the standing and the central committees.

The circular states that the party will start a campaign which will make it mandatory for all its leader to meet with people from various areas. The circular also asked its leaders not to talk against the policy and the leadership of the party in public.

Tribhuvan International Airport to remain closed for seven hours a day

Tribhuvan International Airport will be closed for seven hours a day for the next four months to carry out the second phase renovation of the airport. The airport will close down for seven hours a day from 11 PM to 6 AM every day from September 1 to December 31.

More Chand cadres quit party

Five cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led Nepal Communist Party have surrendered to the police on Friday. They surrendered after they were included in the Galchhi village committee of the party in Dhading district bordering Kathmandu without their consent. The five men say that they were added to the party when they were attending a programme held by the Chand-led party. They say they were unaware their names were added.

No doctors or workers at Pyuthan District Hospital

Pyuthan District Hospital says it is facing difficulties to look after patients as the hospital does not have qualified doctors. The government said that it had upgraded the hospital a few weeks ago, however, patients say they have not been getting proper treatment and have to travel to Lumbini for the service.
