China denies encroaching Nepali land

China has said that it has not encroached Nepali land. It also added that Nepal and India should solve their territorial disputes on Kalapani through friendly consultations and negotiations.

Making its first official remark on border dispute surfaced between Nepal and India after the southern neighbour made public its new political map incorporating Nepali territories, Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu said China always respected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nepal.

However, data suggest that China has also encroached upon around 36 hectares of Nepali land. Nepali land has been encroached upon in four districts including Sankhuwasabha, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchok and Humla districts, reports state.

Deuba calls for diplomacy to solve border disputes

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the government to resolve border issues through diplomatic ways. Speaking in Kailali on Thursday, Deuba, argued that the disputed border issues including Kalapani, Susta and Lipulekh could not be resolved through protests, but following diplomatic channels.

Pandit says govt employees don’t respect ministers

Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lalbabu Pandit has said that the government employees do not respect him and other ministers. Speaking at a meeting of State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Minister Pandit said that some of the employees dissatisfied with adjustment had also used abusive language against him.

He said that some secretaries had threatened to beat him up while some said they would spit on him if transferred elsewhere. The minister added that government employees were more attracted to foreign trips.

184 bodies brought to Nepal in the past three months

A total of 184 foreign employment workers from Nepal have died aboard in the last three months. Out of the 184 deceased workers, families of 171 have been given compensation by the Foreign Employment Board. The board has been helping families bring back bodies of their loved ones from abroad. In the last fiscal year, over 800 Nepali workers died abroad. Most of the workers lost their life due to cardiac arrest.

Extreme E race to be held in Nepal

Nepal’s Mustang district has been revealed as the Himalayan location that the Extreme E electric off-road racing series will visit during its inaugural season in 2021. Nepal’s mountainous area has been chosen as one of the five places where the event will be held.

Electric car racing is going to be organised with the aim of minimising the carbon emission produced by fossil fuel-powered cars, according to Formula E-Championship’s President Alejandro Agag. NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi believes that the event will help bring tourists to Nepal and would also raise awareness about the environment in the context of the growing risk of global warming.

Alam’s bail hearing continues

The bail hearing of suspended lawmaker Mohammad Aftab Alam facing murder charges will continue on Friday. Officials at Rautahat District Court says that since the start of the hearing, 15 advocates supporting Alam have taken part. They say the hearing is likely to continue on to next week.
