Nepali, Indian users take Kalapani dispute to Wikipedia

Kathmandu, November 13

Nepali and Indian users have taken the Kalapani dispute to Wikipedia leading the website to lock the article for five days. The website has designated the article, which describes the dispute as ‘protected’ and cannot be edited.

This comes after people from both Nepal and India edited the page over 50 times in the past week. The Indian editors claimed that Kalapani was in Indian while the Nepali editors said the territory was in Nepal.

The page which started on December 14, 2010, has over 100 edits. However, most of the edits were made in the past week after India published its controversial political map.
