Market monitors destroy date-expired goods at Prithvi Highway eateries

Dhading, June 5

The District Market Monitoring Committee in Dhading has launched a market monitoring, targeting eateries and restaurants by Prithvi Highway in the district.

During a surprise supervision held on Monday, shops in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality area were found supplying goods even after their expiry dates, according to Assistant Chief District Officer Dholak Raj Dhakal.

A large quantity of expired foods including noodles, biscuits, juices, and other junk foods was seized and later destroyed.

The team also raided at least 10 liquor shops that were running without licences. The liquor items were also seized and destroyed.

Meanwhile, Chief District Officer of Dhading, Bhagirath Pandey said, “The monitoring was conducted after receiving public complaints against eateries and shops offering services to passengers while selling date-expired goods. It will continue for few more days.”
