The Prithvi Highway has resumed two-way traffic after landslides at two locations in Dhading were cleared, police said.
According to the District Police Office, Dhading, debris from landslides near Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 and at a place called Jyamire in Ward No. 9 was removed, allowing vehicles to operate in both directions.
The highway had been reduced to one-way traffic on Friday morning after continuous rainfall triggered landslides carrying mud and debris at the two locations.
The Prithvi Highway had only recently reopened after being blocked for 18 days following major floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers on August 26 and 30.
The floods damaged and washed away sections of the highway at Krishnabhir, disrupting one of Nepal’s major road links between Kathmandu and the western districts.
A new track was opened at Krishnabhir, and the highway was brought back into operation from September 17.
Authorities have continued to monitor the highway as rainfall increases the risk of further landslides and road disruptions in the area.
