Manang Air helicopter crashes near Lobuche; no casualties reported

Kathmandu, October 14

A Manang Air helicopter has crashed.

Raju Neupane, the director of Manang Air, confirmed that the helicopter flying from Rumjatar to Lobuche in the Everest region has crashed. The aircraft, which departed at 7.13 am on Saturday was going to Lobuche to pick up passengers from the high-altitude region.

The helicopter only had pilot PK Sedhai. Manang Air said Sedhai is safe.

According to Gyanendra Bhul, the Information Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, pilot Sedhai was transported to Lukla by a Fishtail Air helicopter and is currently en route to Hams Hospital.

“It appears there was an accident during the landing; however, the exact cause remains unclear. Our team is en route to the crash site. Fortunately, there are no human casualties as there were no passengers on board,” said Bhul.
