Leftist alliance warns of action against rebel candidates

Kathmandu, October 24

The CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre have urged their leaders and cadres who have filed nominations for upcoming provincial and federal parliamentary elections against official candidates of their joint alliance to withdraw the nominations.

The parties have warned of action if the rebel nominations are not withdrawn by Tuesday evening, the deadline given by the Election Commission to pull out of the race.

UML leader Krishna Gopal Shrestha and Maoist leader Pambha Bhusal have expressed the hope that the cadres will abide by the directive and withdraw their nominations so as to support the parties to the unification after polls.

Local leaders in Jajarkot, Ramechhap, Humla, Bajhang, Rukum East and Manang had filed candidacies against official candidates expressing dissatisfaction over the central committees’ decisions.
