Youth and student organisations affiliated to the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre, constituents of the left alliance which is preparing to lead the government after some weeks, have announced a fresh protest against the government and the Election Commission.

The organisations say they resorted to the protest after the government hiked the price of petroleum products, hitting the daily life of general public. Likewise, they have accused the incumbent government and the Commission of working in cahoots to delay the process of government chance.

A joint meeting of four organisations held in Kathmandu this morning made the decision, according to Ranjit Tamang, Chairman of the Maoist Centre’s student wing. He says members of the organisations will stage a protest rally from Pradarshani Marga to Ratna Park this afternoon.

The organisations have also demanded that the government take action against police personnel involved in cracking down on their peaceful demonstration.

Tamang says the protest programmes will expand to other parts of the country also.
