Land purchase scam: CIAA begins recording statements of NOC officials

Kathmandu, January 7

In relation to reports of embezzlement in the purchase of land to build petroleum storage facilities in various parts of the country, the anti-corruption constitutional body, Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, on Sunday began recording statements from Nepal Oil Corporation officials.

The Commission today recorded statements from NOC Manager Pushkar Karki. It has been learned that the Commission is planning to summon around 35 Corporation officials in next few weeks.

Earlier, the Commission had recorded statements of around 40 other people and collected documents from more than 200 persons.

The anti-corruption watchdog had also visited purchased land in Jhapa, Sarlahi, Rupandehi and Chitwan districts. Local officials and previous landowners were also interviewed during the interpretation.
