Know the new CEO of Nepal’s post-earthquake reconstruction authority

National Reconstruction Authority CEO Yubaraj Bhusal

Kathmandu, October 24

Yubaraj Bhusal, who has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority, the government body to oversee post-earthquake reconstruction works, is a former high-level bureaucrat.

He worked as the secretary at Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation; Ministry of General Administration; Ministry of Local Development; Office of the Prime Minister; Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare; Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation and National Planning Commission before retiring from the civil service around three years ago.

He has done master’s in political science and public administration from the Tribhuvan University in Nepal and in development planning from Dortmund University in Germany. He had won a gold medal from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.

In bureaucracy, Bhusal is known as an opportunist who always wanted to hold luxurious positions. He was appointed the Director of Nepal Administrative Staff College immediately after the retirement. He was also accused of enjoying double benefits from the state coffers.

Many people think that Bhusal has been appointed to the top position of NRA just because he is a close relative of Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel.
