Kathmandu View Tower contractor Bhetwal surrenders to police

Kathmandu, March 10

Construction entrepreneur Manoj Bhetwal, who is notorious for reported fraud in the proposed construction of Kathmandu View Tower in central Kathmandu, has surrendered to police on Tuesday.

Of late, the police in the city had expedited a search after him, according to DSP Hobindra Bogati, the spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu. Earlier, Patan High Court had ordered the police for his arrest. He was reportedly hiding in India since then.

One Chandra Tamang had filed a fraud complaint against him. Tamang has accused Bhetwal of defrauding him of Rs 7.5 million.

Some months ago, the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police had arrested him for embezzling Rs 1.5 billion received from Apex Development Bank as loan. Similarly, he has been blacklisted by Prabhu Bank and NIC Bank for defaulting on loans.
