Kathmandu, April 15

The Kathmandu metropolitan city urged its citizens to practise waste segregation before they send the waste to waste collectors mobilised by the city government.

The city government says it will impose a fine of Rs 500 per person if they bring unsegregated waste to the collectors. Likewise, the waste they bring will be returned.

The city government’s Environment Department Chief Sarita Rai says now onwards, the city government will send different vehicles on different days for the collection of degradable and undegradable waste.

If the citizens do not follow waste segregation rules, they will be punished as per different laws of the city, according to her.
