Kathmandu, April 26
A team from Kathmandu Metropolitan City, under heavy police security, is demolishing homes in the squatter settlement along the Manohara River bank.
In the process, police are relocating some elderly and sick residents to safe locations. One woman was seen being carried on a stretcher by police to safety.

When attempts were made to demolish homes in the Manohara area on Saturday, residents came out in protest. After locals pelted stones, security personnel were also injured.
Following that incident, the team, along with bulldozers, returned to the Manohara area early this morning. Demolition of homes and shacks with the help of bulldozers is currently ongoing. A large number of security personnel have been deployed around the squatter settlement.

Having already deployed bulldozers at squatter settlements in Thapathali and Gairigaun on Saturday, the metropolitan city is now clearing the Manohara squatter settlement today.
