Kathmandu, April 26
Security forces and bulldozers have arrived at a squatter settlement in Manohara, Bhaktapur, to carry out demolitions.
When authorities attempted the demolition on Saturday, residents rose in protest. The situation turned violent when residents pelted stones, leaving several security personnel injured.
The team withdrew but returned early on Sunday morning, with heavy security forces now deployed around the squatter settlement.
On Saturday, Kathmandu Metropolitan City had already brought in bulldozers to clear squatter settlements in Thapathali and Gaihrigaun. Today, plans to remove the Manohara settlement.
