Kathmandu, April 29

Another round of the lockdown, which the authorities have termed the prohibitory order, imposed to control the spread of the coronavirus has begun in the Kathmandu valley on Thursday.

As per the preliminary notice, the order will remain valid for the next 15 days, but chances are high that it gets extended after that.

On Thursday morning, police are seen across the roads of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts to enforce the order. Public and private vehicles have been barred for plying except those involved in providing emergency services.

However, government offices and banks and financial institutions are open. Likewise, groceries are allowed to open until 10 in the mornings and from 5 to 7 in the evenings.

On the eve of the beginning of the lockdown, thousands of people temporarily residing in Kathmandu have left for different districts of the country before they will be hit hard by difficulties in the movement and the lack of work.
