Kathmandu DAO won’t issue vehicle pass to move into/out of valley till next notice

Kathmandu, August 5

The Kathmandu District Administration Office says it has stopped issuing passes allowing vehicles to move in and out of the Kathmandu valley from Thursday until the next notice as the number of Covid-19 cases in the capital has continued to jump.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs had directed all district administration offices across the country to stop issuing such passes.

Though the government has already lifted the lockdown, it has reimposed the odd-even rationing on vehicles within districts whereas inter-district transportation is still suspended.

Emergency service providing vehicles such as ambulances, media vans, and trucks carrying foodstuffs do not require any pass and they can travel freely, according to Chakra Bahadur Budha, the ministry’s spokesperson.
