Kathmandu city govt staffer arrested on rape charge

Kathmandu, August 12

A staffer of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has been arrested on the charge of raping a minor.

The permanent staffer, currently working as a senior employee among the sweepers, has been arrested on the charge of raping an 11-year-old girl, according to police.

He was arrested in Anamnagar of Kathmandu on Sunday. The Kathmandu District Court remanded him in custody for seven days and police are looking into the case, according to DSP Hobindra Bogati.

The suspected victim already underwent a health checkup and it proved that she was raped, according to police.

“Because the suspect was an old acquaintance, the child’s guardians had trust in him,” Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range chief Uttam Raj Subedi informs.
