Kathmandu metropolitan city said it is banning the screening of all Indian films in the city from Monday.

Mayor Balen Shah’s Secretariat has informed Onlinekhabar that the city police have been deployed and instructed film halls to stop the screening of Indian films.

“All 17 film halls have been told not to screen Indian films,” said his secretariat.

This comes after the South Indian film Adipurush did not remove controversial statements from the movie.

Shah had given the film a three-day ultimatum and had warned all Indian films will be banned in the city if the makers did not remove the statement from the film.

The film has not removed the statement. Instead, the film’s writer Manoj Muntashir stated Nepal was part of India till 1903 giving further fuel to the fire.
