Kathmandu, June 22

Patan High Court has issued an interim order not to stop the screening of Indian films in Kathmandu.

A single bench of Dhir Bahadur Chand made the order.

A writ petition was filed by the Nepal Motion Pictures Association on Wednesday asking the court to order the city not to stop the screening of any film approved by the Censor Board, including Indian films.

The court has summoned both parties of the case to the next hearing on June 27.

But Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah has said he will not allow Indian films to be screened in the city.

Writing on Facebook, Shah said he will not obey the court’s orders as it was against national interests.

“I am ready to face punishment but no Indian films will be screening in Kathmandu,” he said.

He has also accused the court and Nepal government of being slaves of India.
