A team of Indian Police accused of abducting a resident of Doti district in far-western Nepal has been released without any action a day after their detention.

The team had entered Nepal illegally and abducted Lal Bahadur Aauji of Ladagada, Dipayal Silgadhi-8 on Wednesday midnight.

The suspects, however, were detained on Thursday after locals informed police about the incident.

During the interrogation, police had found that the team had personnel from Indian Police including a DSP.

After the discovery, the investigation officials had decided to hand over them to Indian authorities without any action.

“This is an issue related to the relation between two countries,” DIG Romendra Singh Deuja, Chief of the Far-Western Regional Police Office, tells Onlinekhabar, adding they have been handed over to Indian police via the Mahakali Zonal Police Office.

“They have apologised for entering Nepal without any notice.”

Chief District Officer Gokarna Prasad Sharma says no any action was taken against them as told by higher authorities.

“We could not take any action as it was an inter-country issue,” he says, “We did what the people above us told us.”

Local human rights activists, however, have condemned the move to handover the abduction suspects without any action.
