Different power centres are trying hard to protect suspended chief commissioner of CIAA, Lokman Singh Karki. As part of this initiative, a Nepali Congress leader allegedly took Indian ‘intellectual’ and ‘Nepal expert’ SD Muni to PM’s Official Residence in Baluwatar and issued threats to none other than Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
The person issuing threat is Amresh Kumar Singh, lawmaker from the Nepali Congress, a partner in the CPN-Maoist Centre-led ruling coalition. According to a source, Singh threatened Prachanda not to seek enmity with India by supporting the impeachment motion against Karki.

SD Muni is in Nepal to take part in a discussion on Nepal-India relations. A total of 157 lawmakers from the Centre and the main opposition CPN-UML have registered the motion in the Parliament seeking to impeach CIAA Chief Karki.
During the meeting with Prachanda, lawmaker Singh called Prachanda a betrayer. Singh accused that former PLA fighters had registered the impeachment motion against Karki by ‘accepting ‘Chinese money’.

The source has revealed that some Indian leaders and diplomats are also pressing PM Prachanda not to stand in favour of the impeachment motion.
NC lawmaker Singh, accompanying Muni, had visited Baluwatar a few days ago after coming to know that Prachanda is doing all he can to remove Lokman.
Relations between PM Prachanda and CIAA Chief Karki have worsened after the latter threatened to open files related to irregularities in PLA camps. Notably, Karki issued the threat when PM was on a visit to India. Because of this threat also, Prachanda is in favour of passing the motion against Karki through the House. Prachanda, though, has been saying that he was in favour of removing Karki even when KP Sharma Oli was PM.
Singh and some othr NC leaders are trying to shield CIAA Chief Karki. Some Indian diplomats also seem to be showing interest in the case. According to a highly-placed Maoist source, Singh reportedly told Prachanda bluntly that India will never trust Prachanda from now on. After repeated attempts, Onlinekhabar managed to establish contact with Singh, who accepted that he had visited Baluwatar with Muni. Prachanda and I meet regularly, he said, adding: SD Muni is my Guru. Both Prachanda and Baburam regard Muni as their Guru.

However, Singh said he has no interest in the Lokman case. He said whatever the party decides in this case will be acceptable to him.
But the source said: It is natural for a person pressing parties to appoint Lokman as CIAA chief to press them again for Lokman’s sake.
