House panel calls for complaints against ambassadorial nominees

A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee

Kathmandu, October 7

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee on Wednesday has begun preparations to hear three nominations made by the government for Nepal’s ambassadors to various countries.

A meeting of the committee has called for complaints against Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Lok Darshan Regmi and Nirmal Kumar Bishwakarma. The public can file their complaints until October 19, according to the committee secretariat.

Earlier last week, the cabinet had recommended former finance minister Khatiwada for the Nepali Ambassador to the US, former chief secretary Regmi to the UK, and Bishwakarma to South Africa.

As per the constitution, the president appoints the ambassadors after the parliamentary committee approves the names.
