‘High-profile’ gamblers remanded for five days

The Kathmandu District Administration Office has sent nine businesspersons who were arrested at a gambling den last night to police custody for investigation for the next five days.

DSP Raj Kumar KC of the Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu says Chief District Officer Janak Raj Dahal issued an order for the five-day remand in response to a police application.

Earlier on Sunday, Ram Chandra Sanghai, Ashok Agrawal, Purushottam Agrawal, Suresh Agrawal, Govinda Agrawal, Nanda Sharma, Bimal Khetan, Bimal Abuja, and Nikki Jogai were arrested from a hotel in Kamaladi of Kathmandu. All of them are members of different business houses in the country.

Police had confiscated Rs 277,000 million from them.
