The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of the country over the next 24 hours.
According to the Weather Forecast Division, one or two places in the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are expected to experience heavy rainfall this afternoon. Additionally, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in many areas across almost all provinces.
The Division predicts that some places in all provinces could see heavy to very heavy rainfall. In particular, one or two locations in the Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces might experience very heavy rainfall.
Forecasts indicate that rainfall will intensify at night. One or two places in the Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces are expected to receive very heavy rainfall, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in some other areas as well.
Very heavy rainfall is defined as exceeding 200 millimetres within 24 hours, while heavy rainfall ranges from 100 to 200 millimetres. Such intense rainfall poses significant risks.
The Division has warned of continuous extreme rainfall for several days, which may lead to floods and landslides in the affected areas. Residents in these regions are urged to exercise caution.
