Monsoon winds continue to influence weather across Nepal, with the monsoon trough currently positioned around its average location, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The country is currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions, with light to moderate rainfall reported in parts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as a few places in Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and one or two places in Madhesh Province.
The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the country this afternoon. Some parts of the mountainous region may receive moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, while many areas of the hills are also likely to experience moderate rainfall with thunderstorms.
The department has forecast moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some parts of the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few places in the Terai areas of Madhesh and Koshi provinces.
Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Similar conditions are expected tonight, with generally cloudy skies across the country. A few places in the mountainous regions may receive moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning.
Some hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, along with a few areas of the hills in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, may also receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is also possible in some parts of the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and in a few places in Madhesh, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim.
The department has again warned of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Authorities have urged people in areas likely to receive heavy rain to remain alert to possible debris flows, floods, landslides and soil erosion.
The weather could also disrupt daily life and affect agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road transport and air travel. The department has advised the public and concerned agencies to remain updated with its latest weather information.
