The largest world’s largest two-wheeler mobility company, Hero MotoCorp partnered up with the American two-wheeler company Harley-Davidson to produce the cheapest Harley-Davidson to date named the Harley-Davidson X440.

The bike was teased back in May when a few pictures were sent to the media in India. Following that, the bike instantly started trending on social media with many people eagerly waiting for it.

The bike has been officially released in three different variants – Harley-Davidson X440 Denim, Harley-Davidson X440 Vivid and Harley-Davidson X440 S.

These options offer variations in terms of colour and small details. For instance, the base Denim option features tube tires on spoke wheels. The mid option, Vivid, comes with alloys, while the top option includes machine-finished alloys, 3D logos, and a built-in E-SIM. Although the differences may not be substantial, the bike is an excellent choice for those seeking a cruiser or modern roadster style.

Design

The Harley-Davidson X440 is built entirely in collaboration with Harley-Davidson in India. The bike, although not a traditional cruiser that Harley-Davidson is widely known for, offers a modern roadster design. Its premium roadster appearance does not detract from its identity as a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. In fact, it draws inspiration from a previous Harley model called the XR1200, infusing elements of that classic into its design.

It is a big bike with a large tank, round headlights and an interesting back.

The bike integrates a modern touch while preserving the company’s retro aesthetics, allowing it to uphold its legacy in a contemporary manner.

The side profile looks similar to other Harley-Davidsons with a modern touch. The back has a small rectangular-shaped LED tail light supported with two round indicators. The front of the bike includes a round LED headlight and the same two round indicators.

The TFT display is round and shows speed, distance travelled, gear and others such as calls and messages when the bike is connected via Bluetooth. The TFT display carries on the round retro styling fused with the new technology.

It has a maximum power output of 27.37PS at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 38Nm at 4000 rpm. The main highlight of the bike is the torque it delivers which is 40% more than that of the Royal Enfield 350 and a bit more than the KTM 390.

The X440 is equipped with a 6-speed transmission. Its air-oil cooling system ensures effective heat dissipation, maintaining the engine’s performance even during extended rides. It is compliant with the BS6-2.0 emission standard, which aligns with modern environmental regulations.

Tyres, brakes and suspension

The Harley-Davidson X440 is equipped with MRF Zapper Hyke tyres. The front tire measures 100/90-18 inches, while the rear tire measures 140/90-17 inches, which offers nice traction and stability during acceleration and cornering.

At the rear, gas-filled twin shocks with 7-step preload adjustment allow riders to customize the suspension setup according to their preferences and road conditions.

When it comes to braking performance, the X440 doesn’t disappoint and is good enough for this big bike. The front brake features a disc measuring 320mm in diameter paired with a rear disc measuring 240mm. The X440 is equipped with a dual-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), which enhances safety by preventing wheel lock-up during sudden or hard braking, allowing riders to maintain stability and control.
