The National Examinations Board says the Secondary Education Examinations (SEE) will be held within May end this year for the current academic session.

Whereas the exams used to be held in late March every year, the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent disturbances in the academic calendar will defer the exams by two months this year.

As the government has already decided that the new school year will begin in late June this year, the exams will be conducted before May end, informs Examinations Controller Ram Raj Khakurel. “The dates are not fixed, but we are preparing to complete the exams within May.”

In the last week of December last year, with a target to hold the exams by mid-June, the board had issued a notice calling the schools and students to fill up examination forms.

It is expected that around 500,000 students will attend the exams.

The exams were postponed at the 11th hour in the last session as the fear of coronavirus infection increased. Later, the government had authorised schools themselves to grade their students, which the National Examinations Board had certified.
