Four killed on the spot in Baglung pick-up van accident

Baglung, July 24

At least four persons died while six others sustained injuries when a pick-up van fell off the road in Badigaun Rural Municipality of Baglung district on Monday.

The Rural Municipality’s Chairperson Mayar Singh Paija says the van heading towards Gwalichaur from Jaljala fell around 800 metres below the road.

Meanwhile, the local body has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to send a helicopter to carry out rescue works as most of the injured are serious.

“We are taking the injured to the road from the incident site,” Paija says, “If the helicopter does not arrive anytime soon, the death toll might increase.”

Chief District Officer Rishiram Tiwari assures the chopper will reach the incident site very soon. “We have already talked with the Nepal Army and the Ministry and the helicopter will reach there for rescue.”
