Kathmandu, December 18
The final rites of former Prime Minister and statesman Tulsi Giri will be performed without state honours, officials say.
Although the government was preparing to provide state honours for Giri, his family members are learnt to have told officials that Giri wished to be cremated as a common man.
Giri’s wife Sarah told Onlinekhabar, “Yes the government talked to us about it. But his final rites will be conducted without state honours.” She said that Giri, before his death, had requested her to cremate him the way common people are cremated.
According to the family, Giri, who passed away at the age of 93, will be cremated at the Pashupati Aryaghat on Wednesday.
