Govt starts process to remove illegal structures on Pashupati Trust land

Kathmandu, January 29

Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, has given instructions to clear the illegal structures built by encroaching on the land of the Pashupati Area Development Trust.

In a written decision addressing the meeting agenda, Kirati instructed the officials of the Trust to promptly remove the illegal structure.

Minister Kirati has instructed the evacuation of illegal structures and houses erected by people. The Trust unanimously decided to execute the removal of such structures as per the minister’s directives.

The Trust says that 3,400 square metres of its land is currently occupied by various people and organisations.

The Trust has decided to initiate the legal procedures for the removal of physical structures erected through encroachment and will subsequently submit the technical evaluation to the metropolis.

As per the Secretary of Minister Kiranti, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah, who serves as a board member, has committed to ensuring the prompt evacuation of structures upon receipt of the technical assessment, pledging to complete the task within one hour.

The Trust has decided to complete the legal process to remove the physical structures built by encroachment and submit the technical evaluation to the metropolis.

According to Kirati’s secretariat, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah, a board member, has expressed his commitment to taking responsibility for evacuating structures built on the Trust’s land. Shah assured that this action would be initiated within an hour of receiving the technical assessment.
